Chrissa Georgiades, MSc LP Perinatal Psychologist                                               

Chrissa Georgiades is a Registered Psychologist in Greece. In 2014, she established the mental health service SOPHROSYNA following the stillbirth of her daughter Sophronia on May 9, 2012.

SOPHROSYNA is a community based mental health service specialising in infant-maternal mental health  through psychoeducation, psychotherapy, training development and research.

Chrissa has over 20 years of working experience with children, adolescents, families and adults. She is trained in psychological assessment, evaluation and treatment and is experienced in the socio-emotional and behavioural difficulties presented in children between 7-18 yrs through her engagements in social services in the UK. Since co-founding SOPHROSYNA she has focused her experience on women’s health in particular the pre-conception through to the post-partum period including 4 yrs post birth as well as the impact maternal mental health has on the newborns cognitive, social and physiological development from infancy to early childhood (0-4yrs).

Chrissa gained invaluable experience as a research psychologist at the Section of Family Therapy’s Institute of Psychiatry Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN) Kings College London and taught undergraduate psychology and research methodology for the Bachelor of Science Psychology course at Birkbeck College University of London.

She completed postgraduate training at the University College London (2006) and gained her basic psychology education at the University of Queensland (1997). Additionally, she holds awards from the Open University, UK (2002) and James Cook University, AUS (1993). Chrissa has had her postgraduate work published in respected psychological journals and is currently working towards a Phd by publication with a main focus on the efficacy of cognitive-behavioural therapy based interventions for positive maternal mental health outcomes. Her other research interests are in infant mental development, specifically the effects of maternal mood disorders in learning acquisition during early childhood.

In her spare time, she volunteers as a manuscript reviewer for the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health and for the Journal of Social Psychology.  She has engaged in internationally accredited workshops and training in perinatal mental health and is experienced in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, and is training in Applied Behaviour Analysis.

In 2014, she received her licence to practice in Greece (Ἀρθ. 14796/234-21.01.2014), where she resides with her husband and three children.


Joanna Lamprinopoulou, Consultant specialising in positive mental health and emotional well-being of children & adolescents.

Joanna Lamprinopoulou is a psychologist and psychotherapist with several years experience in early diagnostic and prevention of emotional and behavioural psychological disorders amongst children and adolescents. Her clinical interests at present are centred on effective and efficient treatment outcomes on children’s anxiety disorders and the ability of parental cooperation on these disorders. In addition, she engages in the treatment of anxiety disorders, body weight management and supports couples who are faced with infertility and adoption challenges. Joanna has worked within a host of public services in Great Britain, such as, education, social services and the NHS. At present Joanna is employed by the NHS in the Early Intervention and Social Psychology service in London, offering direct couselling to families, children and young people (individual, family or group). As well as that, Joanna takes part in regular counselling and educational training of other professionals-such as, teachers, social workers and medical doctors-regarding psychological aspects of raising children.

SOPHROSYNA consults Joanna for her invaluable clinical expertise regarding treatment programs.


Chrysi Kariotoglou, Psychologist-Psychotherapist, external consultant

Chrysi Kariotoglou is a psychologist, psychodynamic-psychotherapist and addictions counsellor. She graduated from the National Kapodistrian University of Athens and Oxford University. She received training from the Hellenic Group Analysis and Family Therapy. During 2001-2011, Chrysi has worked in the Centre of Addictions. Alongside her addictions work, she held a private practice offering individual and group psychoanalytic psychotherapy in Athens (2006-2010) and in the regional city of Agrinio  (2009-2011). Since 2013, she is employed as a group psychodynamic psychotherapist at East London NHS Foundation Trust. Recently she has developed an interest in the Existential Psychotherapy-Speech Therapy of V.Frankl as well as Mentalization Based Therapy (MBT).

Emmanouela Santamouri, Representative in South Aegean Cyclades

Emmaouela Santamouri is a qualified Infant and Child Carer and Mother-Infant Creative Play Worker. She is a graduate of the 3 year program at the Childcare School Andrea Sygrou and is an Animateur graduate from ANIMA, IEK Sotiropoulou.

Mrs Santamouri has managed the care of newborns, infants, toddlers and children at the day care centre “EIRINI” in Tinos between 1999 and August 2018. She has been an active member of the theatrical group “Theatropeio” in Tinos, participating in children’s productions whilst motivating children’s engagement in drama and theatre.  She has participated in a range of psychoeducational seminars on infant and maternal attachment as well as the emotional development of children. In addition, Mrs Santamouri has completed the intensive training course on Infant-Maternal Mental Health offered by SOPHROSYNA in Tinos 2018.

For SOPHROSYNA Mrs Santamouri offers her extensive experience in creative engagement and socio-emotional development of children 0-3 years. As Co-Ordinator of Creative Play, she is responsible for infant-maternal support groups using play (i.e. drama, arts & crafts) for awareness and promotion of mother-infant attachment.

Her voluntary work ethic in infant mental development compliments the commitment of SOPHROSYNA to local communities in Tinos.
